Case Western Reserve University was gifted the Temple Tifereth-Israel on the edge of its University Circle campus with the condition that High Holy Days continue to be held in the main sanctuary. The space was re-imagined and designed to host full orchestral concerts, dance performances, and smaller acoustic and amplified music events while maintaining the features important to the congregation.
Nextstage principal Tony Forman (while at Theatre Projects) collaborated with his colleagues, the architect, and acoustician to introduce a visually transparent acoustic canopy, three concentric stage lifts, theater lighting infrastructure, and new seating that bring the facility up to contemporary standards and allow it to convert quickly back to a sanctuary.
